Our Learning This Half Term
English: We are diving into the exciting portal story The Magician’s Shop, where we’ll be focusing on using interesting vocabulary to create tension and mystery in our writing.
Maths: Our focus is on place value, working confidently with numbers up to 10,000.
Guided Reading: Together, we are exploring The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, discussing plot, characters and key themes in detail.
Class Novel: We will also enjoy one of Mr Groves’ favourites – Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.
History: Our topic is World War I, and we are looking forward to a fantastic workshop at the Royal Armouries later this half term.
Science: We are learning about the classification of animals, exploring a variety of vertebrates and invertebrates.
PE: Alongside swimming, we are developing our netball skills, practising passing, receiving and scoring.
Spanish: This half term we are learning numbers up to 20 and practising some basic greetings – ¡Bueno!
Music: We will be listening to different styles of music and creating some of our own – how cool!
PSHE: In PSHE, we are focusing on kindness and belonging, exploring how we can support one another and celebrate our differences. This links closely with our school values and helps us build a caring and respectful classroom community.
A Note from the Year 4 Team
As always, thank you for your continued support. Please ensure children are reading at least three times per week at home and completing their set TT Rockstars sessions. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Year 4 team.
