Nursery 2
Bumblebees and Dragonflies
We would like to welcome all the new children into Bumblebees and Dragonflies and say how impressed we are with how they have settled into nursery.
In the Nursery 2 rooms we play and have fun while we learn. We explore indoors and outdoors where we have chance to learn and practice new skills. While your child is with us they will enjoy lots of play experiences including sand, water, playdough, messy play, baking and role play.
We love spending time in our garden playing on our climbing frames and in our big sand and water trays. We play outside whatever the weather, there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.
We encourage children to join in with short, fun and interactive carpet times, where we practise our counting and listening. We love to dance and sing and hope that everyone leaves with a big smile on their face.
If you would like to contact the Bumblebee or Dragonfly team, you can now do so via email. These emails are not checked every day, so if it is important, please speak to a member of staff on the door, or call the nursery building.
Autumn 1 - Learning highlights
In Physical Development, the children have been practising their balancing on the stepping stones and throwing and catching a variety of different balls, hoops and beanbags. We are getting better at running and jumping safely around our outdoor garden. The children have been using a range of different tools such as rolling pins, scoops, pencils and scissors. We are also naming body parts and learning to wash and dry our hands independently. We have also started to brush our teeth everyday in class.
In Communication and Language, we are working on using our listening skills when listening to a class story or rhyme. The children have been practising how to answer simple questions and repeat new words. We are beginning to speak in short sentences.
In Personal, Social and Emotional Development, we’ve been focusing on understanding our class routines and boundaries. We are all starting to make friends and play with other children. The children have started to make choices in the provision deciding what they would like to play with.
Our Main text this half term is 'Brown bear, brown bear'.
It has been a wonderful start to the year and lovely to welcome so many new children to our nursery rooms.
