About Castleton Primary School
Castleton Primary is a two-form entry maintained primary school with a children’s centre, located in the heart of New Wortley, Leeds. We serve a richly diverse community. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment where every child feels valued and inspired to be “the best we can be.”
Our core values of curiosity, courage, and kindness guide our ethos and curriculum. We foster a culture where children develop a lifelong love of learning, supported by strong relationships and a community that celebrates diversity and individual strengths. We are focused on improving reading and writing outcomes, enhancing our early years provision, and embedding relational practice to ensure every child thrives.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant at Castleton, you will play a vital role in supporting children with special educational needs, either in small groups or through 1:1 support, including work within our SEND provision. You will work closely with teachers and the leadership team to deliver personalised learning experiences that respond to each child’s needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on children’s progress and well-being in a school that truly values every member of its community.

• Works collaboratively with colleagues and families to create inclusive learning environments
• Is adaptable, proactive, and eager to contribute ideas to improve practice
• Ideally holds a Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification or relevant SEND training (though this is not essential)
Your kindness and courage to innovate will help us continue to develop a supportive culture where all children feel safe, valued, and excited about learning.
What We Offer
• A welcoming, supportive team and leadership committed to your professional growth
• Opportunities to engage in ongoing training and development
• The chance to make a real difference in a school focused on inclusion, creativity, and community
• Access to green spaces and sports pitches across our three sites, enriching the school experience
• A school culture that celebrates diversity and fosters positive relationships
