Monday 4th May

Today's writing is based on the picture above. Each day, we will write about a different picture.

You can use the sentences below to help you write your own sentences. The words in red can be exchanged or you can use some of your own.

Years 1 and 2 sentences 

Jack reached the top of the beanstalk and looked/peered/gazed all around.

There were blades of grass as big/tall/huge as trees/bushes.

Suddenly/All of a sudden/Just then he heard a sound/noise

 

Thud! Thud! Thud!/Thump! Thump! 

The whole earth shook/trembled.

giant/huge/enormous pair of feet was coming closer and closer/nearer and nearer.

Jack froze.

He was terrified/scared/frightened.

What would happen next? (or use a question of your own).

Years 3 and 4 sentences

At the top of the beanstalk, Jack looked/peered/gazed all around him.

There were big/tall/huge blades of thick, green grass as  big/tall/huge as trees/bushes.

Suddenly/All of a sudden/Just then he heard a sound/noise in the distance.

Thud! Thud! Thud!/Thump! Thump! Thump!

Jack felt the whole earth shake/tremble.

A giant/huge/enormous pair of feet was coming closer and closer/nearer and nearer.

Jack froze/stopped.

Terror/Horror/Fear flooded/filled his whole/entire body.

What would happen to him next? (or use a question of your own).

Years 5 and 6 sentences

Jack, who was tired/exhausted from climbing up the beanstalk, looked/peered/gazed all around him.

Big/tall/huge blades of thick, green grass as  big/tall/huge as trees/bushes surrounded him, waving/swaying in the wind/breeze.

Suddenly/All of a sudden/Just then he heard a sound/noise in the distance.

Thud! Thud! Thud!/Thump! Thump! Thump!

Jack felt the whole earth shake/shudder and tremble.

Ahead of him/Up ahead of him, a giant/huge/enormous pair of feet was coming closer and closer/nearer and nearer.

Jack was frozen/rooted to the spot.

Terror/Horror/Fear flooded/filled his whole/entire body.

What would happen to him next? Would he survive (or use two questions of your own).
